I'm Joe.
An integrative therapist.
BSc (Hons). Trained at the Sherwood Institute. Working with adults from a calm practice in West Bridgford, Nottingham, and online across the UK.

My wish here is to really connect with you. And find out your story.
I came to this work the long way round. After years spent listening to people in other settings, I trained formally as a therapist because it felt like the most honest thing I could offer. I qualified with a BSc (Hons) from the Sherwood Institute and have been in private practice ever since.
I describe myself as integrative, which means I don't bolt you into a single approach. Sessions draw on person-centred, psychodynamic, and existential ideas — whichever serves you best on a given day. What stays constant is the relationship: warm, honest, unhurried.
Some clients come because something specific is in the way — anxiety, a relationship that's hurting, a loss they can't quite put down. Others come because life looks fine on paper and somehow doesn't feel that way. Both are welcome reasons.
What a session feels like
Probably more like a conversation than you'd expect. There's tea. There's silence when silence is what's needed. There are questions, but no scripts.
I won't pretend to have a neat formula. What I will do is pay close attention, take you seriously, and bring the whole of myself into the room. Therapy works when it's real. That's what I'm here for.
